This week in Humanities, fourth graders reviewed some writing samples that were in need of some attention and application of the "6+1 Writing Traits". They continued to work on Writers Workshops projects and took on a new project in Language Arts as well.
All grade 4's have been introduced to "Kidblog", a new site that we will be piloting to illustrate our use and understanding of Reading Comprehension and Readers Workshop projects. Once more projects have been approved and published to the site, we will invite you to take a look!
In Social Studies, grade fours are gearing up to begin a new project that will be our focus in the coming weeks and will continue into the new year.
In preparation for their upcoming group-work, time was spent this week exploring what makes group work successful and asking fourth graders what skills and attributes they are able to bring to collaborating with classmates.
Students will be tracing Alberta's natural resources from raw materials to consumer goods. This inquiry will see students researching, collaborating, planning, contacting professionals and presenting.
We are currently looking for professionals in the following industries to be available for contact by fourth graders:
Oil/Gas, Oil Sands, Forests, Coal, Farming (Crops), Ranching (Livestock), Green energy sources (wind, solar, hydro).
*If you would be able to help or you feel we have overlooked any major industries that you think you may be able to shed light on for our grade 4's, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.

MISSING ITEMS:
-With the cooler weather and expectancy of snow, more mittens, toques and snow pants come to school. An email was sent out earlier this week about a few missing items from classes. Please be sure to check that you don't have extra pieces at home or that your child's belongings have not been mixed up with others! Thank you :
