Humanities:
This week in Humanities, we continued to work on reading strategies. One of the challenges student’s often encounter when reading non-fiction texts, is distinguishing between what is important and what is merely interesting. To help students with this skill, we have introduced a reading strategy called, Determining Importance. In this strategy, students use guiding questions to sort relevant information from irrelevant information. Jot notes are then used to record the information needed. The students will be using this strategy over the next couple of weeks as they gather information for their upcoming Alberta region projects.
We are also giving the children time during Learning strategies to ensure that they are caught up on assignments and have responded to any comments posed by their teacher.
Other information:
IPad chargers will now kept at home and iPads may be taken home every night. As there are no longer chargers at school, iPads must return to school fully charged.
