Our focus this week in Humanities classes was the completion and preparation of our Social Studies group projects. After focusing on Alberta's natural resources and industries for some rime now, fourth graders have acquired a great deal of knowledge surrounding their resources and are ready to share with their peers next week. After peer sharing and feedback, groups will present in their homeroom Humanities classes.
We are excited to begin a new inquiry into Alberta's historical people, places, events and artifacts in the weeks before our 2014 Spring Break.
As you may very well know, we have been focusing on sentence fluency & structure, organization and word choice in our writing. 4.1/4.2 Humanities classes were given the assignment of describing one of 8 pictures of beaches to their peers, focusing on these writing traits. Attached Below is an exemplar of student work and an image of the beach they had chose. Enjoy!

In addition to our daily efforts in Humanities, fourth graders will also be given the opportunity to further hone in on their areas for growth in core subjects. During our "Learning Strategies" blocks, students will split their time between Student Learning Plans for their second term and being able to access additional instruction and support in the areas of Math, Reading, Writing and Spelling each six day cycle.
