This week, we continued our inquiry into Alberta's resources and industries, pairing grade 4 classes. Students have been asked to start drafting their emails for experts, which we will send out next week. Our focus will now switch from research in groups, to the planning and execution of a presentation in class groups. We are excited for our fourth graders to have the opportunity to share their information and knowledge with one another and to further hone their presentation skills.
In addition to our work in Social Studies, we have been sharpening our writing skills with the use of our 6+1 traits of Writing, focusing again this week on sentence fluency and structure.
Grade 4's have also started their "Friends For Life" curriculum for Health classes. A letter detailing the program, as well as its focus and benefits, was sent home earlier in the week and is also attached under our "Links and Important Docs" page on this site.
