We are never surprised with how busy our days in fourth grade can be and this week was no exception. In addition to our continued work with the 6+1 Traits of Writing and sharpening our sentence writing skills, we switched gears within our Social Studies projects. Fourth graders are currently creating presentations to showcase the knowledge and expertise they possess of their resource and industry. Students were asked to choose their own medium to present with and to ensure that all group members were active in their planning, participation and presentation to the class.
Our second "Star Reading Assessment" was also done in classes this week. This program is designed to derive information from student responses and caret strategies for each child based on their reading comprehension. During our second and third terms, we will be using this information to inform our Learning Strategies classes and have students work on their areas of need with homeroom teachers and/or our inclusive practices coaches.
We also completed our annual "Tell Them From Me" survey this week. The anonymous survey asks questions surrounding the way students feel about school safety, peers, teachers activities and more.
