Although it was only a 3 day school week, fourth graders had no shortage of items to cross off their "to-do" lists. Students are beginning to write pieces focusing on either word choice or voice. Students in the 4.1/4.2 pod spent a few classes penning a page from the perspective of an inanimate object found in our classroom. The kids were very imaginative and seemed to enjoy the project thoroughly. An example of student work is attached below.
In addition to their new writing projects, grade fours were asked to install the application, "Explain Everything" in order to create and share their spelling tricks. We will continue crafting these next week. An example of one of these tricks is posted below.
The Grade Four Humanities team would also like to invite students to share their class "Kidblog!" and kidblog projects with their parents over the long weekend. Parents simply need their children to sign into Kidblog, using the drop down menu and entering their password. Students have uploaded Reading Journals, Interviews, Trailer, Pic Collages and more surrounding the books and strategies they are using in class during Readers Workshop time.
We also held a small Valentines celebration in our homerooms on Wednesday of this week. We would like to thank all of the parents for arranging valentines notes, snacks and treats. The sugar was well received.
Enjoy your long weekend, everyone!
