Brrrrr! This week has been a chilly one but fourth graders have been working hard enough in Humanities to keep themselves warm. We have been continuing our inquiry into Alberta's resources from raw material to consumer product in Social Studies. Our grade four Humanities team is still looking for professionals involved in our seven areas of focus (ranching, farming, oil & gas, oil sands, forestry, coal, green energy) that would be available for contact for fourth graders conducting interviews. Contact would be made through phone, email , letter etc.
In addition to our work in Social Studies, students have continued their work on their "Kidblog" Reading projects. Students have been creating journal entires, interviews, commercials, drawings, pic collages etc. to tell readers about their books and reading comprehension strategies.
The next 2 weeks will prove to busy yet again for students in the fourth grade with both The Peace Festival & The Peace Festival Speaker Series around the corner. We will be trying to balance our time between ongoing Humanities projects and activities planned for students around the school to celebrate this years theme, "We Live Together". During Peace Festival, there are many opportunities for students to participate in activities that aren't offered year-round. One of these activities is skating at the nearby community rink. A consent form has gone home with your child and is also attached below to ensure that if this activity is selected, students can go.
